Kadhi Paneer

"Kadhai Paneer"
Kadhai Paneer is a spicy and tangy preparation of paneer along with capsicum, tomatoes and onions. Its one of the most popular vegetarian side dish usually served along with chapatis, roti, nan, paratha etc. One of the easiest recipes that I have tried and can prepared in minutes.


Paneer, cubed  -250 grams
Capsicum, sliced - 1 large
Onion, sliced (thick) - 1 large
Tomato - 2 medium
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
Green chilli, roughly chopped - 2 pieces
Ginger julienned - 1 tablespoon
Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon

Garam masala powder - 1 teaspoon
Fresh green coriander, chopped - 2-3 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Oil - 2 tablespoon

Oil for deep frying the paneer - 1/4 th cup

For Dry Roasted powder

Whole coriander seeds - 1 tablespoon
Whole dry red chillies - 2 pieces


Dry roast the coriander seeds along with the dry red chillies and grind into a corse powder.

Heat 1/4th cup oil in a kadhai and deep fry the paneer till lightly golden brown drain and keep aside on absorbent paper. ( I am using frozen paneer so have defrosted the same and have deep fried them, however if you are using fresh paneer then you could avoid deep frying)

Reduce oil to approximately 2 tablespoon and continue cooking in the same kadha. Fry the onions until translucent. Add the ginger  garlic paste, fry for 3-4 minutes or until the raw smell is gone and the onions start to caramelize.

Add the chopped tomatoes and fry for 2-3 minutes, add the tomato puree and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Add red chilli powder and turmeric powder and fry for 3-4 min.

Add sliced capsicum, along with salt and mix well fry for 3-4 minuets and add the fried paneer and mix well, cook for 3-4 minutes. Add 1/4th cup of water so that the masala, paneer and capcicum blend well and the paneer can absorb the flavors well. Cook for 2-3 minutes on high flame, once it comes to a boil reduce the flame to low.

Add the ground coriander n red chilli powder, garam masala powder and mix well, add the kasuri methi along with julienned ginger and chopped green chillies and fresh coriander. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes and turn off the heat.

Serve hot  with roti, naan or paratha.
